This PDW is designed to generate fresh insights into the theoretical and practical challenges arising at the intersection of AI, standardization strategy, and ecosystem scalability. It aims to support scholars investigating the development and expansion of AI ecosystem, by focusing on AI platforms and governance, standardization process, AI interoperability and technological integration, and pathways to market uptake.
Session 1 introduces the topic and outlines the key objectives of the PDW. Given the novelty and complexity of these issues, the PDW adopts an interactive expert driven format that prioritizes contributions from leading academics and practitioners gathering from various parts of the globe. To this end, the PDW is structured around two thematically distinct “half-panels”, each led by distinguished experts who will offer their perspectives on foundational and emergent issues in scaling AI ecosystems through standardization. Each half-panel will be followed by an open discussion and a dedicated Q&A session to facilitate deeper audience engagement.
Session 2 features a breakout table discussion facilitated by experts, including panel members and table facilitators. This session focuses on participants’ specific research challenges as follows their previous submission of their unique research proposals. Groups will work on targeted issues related to AI governance, standardization strategy, patenting strategy, and complex technology innovation, fostering a specifically tailored and focused debate. Finally, the closing session is designed to synthesize collective insights and highlight the key takeaways.
Breakout Table Discussions: Attendees will discuss their papers in thematic roundtables. Participants to the roundtables are invited to submit their extended abstract through the web format (call for participants). The deadline for submitting the EA is June 30, 2026.
Attendees: Scholars who prefer not to present their work will be welcome to join as observers/auditors and to take part in the discussions.
Communication: Workshop information, including abstracts, photos, program and follow-up discussions will be shared through social media webpage, AOM communication channels and participants’ networks.
Total duration: 180 minutes.
Even if participation is open, pre-registration is required.
